In May of 2006, a large kennel in Palmdale (north of Los Angeles) was closed down by Los Angeles County
Animal Services officials, placing 56 Akitas homeless in County shelters. After nearly two years and thousands of
hours of dedicated work by Animal Control officials and Akita Rescuers (from California and nationwide) - we
are pleased to announce that the Palmdale Akita Rescue Project has only ONE remaining Akita seeking an adoptive
home....and she is a VERY SPECIAL girl indeed!
This website was created to help potential adopters "meet" MAGGIE MAE!!
Maggie Mae is a truly beautiful Akita and a wonderful addition to the right family. She was one
of the FIRST of the Palmdale Akitas to be adopted in 2006, but due to recent unforeseen challenges,
her adoptive family was heartbroken to ask us to help us find her a new forever home.
Maggie Mae is currently residing in a caring foster home in the Victorville (CA) area, but
she longs to have a family to call her own again!
She gets along with people of all ages and is very good with children. Maggie Mae needs to be in
a one-pet household, as she (typical of the Akita breed) does not always get along with other dogs.

The Palmdale Akita Rescue Project welcomes donations in any amount,
to help us pay the (more than $10,000) remaining in back-kennel and medical bills incurred over this past 23
months as the dogs were moved out of shelters and into private kennels where their health was restored prior to adoption.
We THANK all who have given so generously and contributed to the support and rehabilitation of
these beautiful and deserving Akitas.
